ADAPT IMMIGRATION

Even if We’re Red, We’re Not Red Flags: Protect Yourself from Canada Start-Up Visa Fraud

The Canada Start-Up Visa fraud problem is growing — and many entrepreneurs don’t even realize they’re being targeted. The Start-Up Visa (SUV) program is one of Canada’s most attractive immigration pathways, offering Permanent Residency (PR) while launching an innovative business. But because of its popularity, it has also become a prime target for scams. Fraudsters exploit applicants with false promises, fake representatives, and shortcuts that don’t exist.

At Adapt Immigration, we believe your future should be built on honesty, compliance, and transparency — not scams. Here’s how to protect yourself.

Scam #1: Fake Representatives Claiming to Represent Adapt Immigration

One of the most common tricks fraudsters uses is pretending to be “representatives” of Adapt Immigration. They might contact you online, use unofficial email addresses, or present themselves as “affiliates” to gain your trust.

The truth:

  • Adapt Immigration does not work with random or unverified external agents.
  • If someone is truly our partner, they will always be listed on our official website.
  • If you’re unsure, you can email us directly to confirm.
  • Anyone who cannot prove their affiliation through these official channels is not connected with us.

Protect yourself: Never trust someone just because they drop the Adapt Immigration name. Always verify.

Scam #2: Guaranteed Letters of Support

Some scammers lure clients with promises like: “Pay us, and we’ll guarantee your Letter of Support (LOS).” For many entrepreneurs, this can sound appealing — but it’s completely false.

The truth:

  • Under IRCC rules, no consultant, lawyer, or company can guarantee a Letter of Support.
  • Only designated organizations — business incubators, angel investors, or venture capital funds — have the authority to issue one.
  • Their decision is based on the quality of your business idea, the strength of your team, and your market potential.

Protect yourself: If anyone claims they can “guarantee” an LOS, they are misleading you. Not only will they waste your money, but they could also damage your credibility with IRCC.

Scam #3: Shortcuts to Permanent Residency

Fraudsters often prey on people’s urgency by offering “fast-track” routes to Canadian PR or exclusive shortcuts. This is another classic trap.

The truth:

  • Canada’s immigration system is strict, transparent, and rules based.
  • There are no legal shortcuts to Permanent Residency.
  • Falling for these schemes can result in application refusal, wasted resources, and even a ban from reapplying.

Protect yourself: If the process sounds too easy, it’s not real. Genuine immigration pathways require compliance, time, and effort.
