Major Changes in Express Entry This 2023

Canada is preparing to implement major changes in its immigration system this 2023.

Bill C-19, which received Royal Assent last June 23, 2023, authorizes IRCC to conduct category-based selection within the Express Entry System.

This transition aims to address labour market shortages and support future economic plans of the country. IRCC is conducting consultations with various stakeholders on the format and possible categories for the targeted draws which may include categories for specific occupations, languages, and education credentials.

These changes are anticipated to happen during the 1st quarter of the year.
